My mother is a great motivator. She is very caring and compassionate and always ready with a word of encouragement. Last night, right after my 10 minute Billy Blanks Jr workout, my mom and I were BBMing (she's fancy) and she sent me this:
"You just got back in the game...you have to pace yourself."
How true is that? For all of my ex-athletes, you know how it feels to not workout and try to all of a sudden go to the gym and try to do things that your body can no longer handle. It doesn't usually end well. It is really important to pace yourself. You didn't put it on in a day, and it won't come off that way, either. (More wisdom from my mother ) I love my coffee and I can assure you that I will NOT be cutting that out of my diet, but I will limit myself to one medium sized travel mug per day and not the 2 of those plus the peppermint hot chocolate with whole milk that I would like to have.
Pace yourself! Push harder every day!
Today is a cardio day for me. I was going to go to the gym, but my head is aching something terrible. INSTEAD, I have to run to wal-mart to fix my glasses so while I'm there, I'm going to pick up one of those cardio workout dvd's. I like those things because they are usually pretty entertaining. I love the "dance" dvd's. I mean, I'm clearly not dancing, but at least the music is generally okay and it keeps you moving. I didn't do so well on the eating today--had sausage peppers and potato casserole from a cool italian place...and the itis to go along with it...So clearly, i need to have a good workout tonight.
Remember, PACE YOURSELF! Don't be discouraged...YOU CAN DO IT!
Peace.
Courtney
P.S. About that pic...it was taken a CRAZY long time ago at my church. Clearly I was the coolest kid for learning how to wink. LOL

You can do it Courtney! I'm proud of you!
ReplyDeleteThanks CeeJay! its going to be quite the journey...I'm tryna get like you!
ReplyDeleteYour mom is right! Lord knows I stop when I feel like I'm about to puke in the gym! Stop and breathe, you'll get there.
ReplyDeleteAs for the lunch dilemma. I usually cook meals that I can have for more then one day, or cook a day ahead. Also, if you buy ingredients to make your own salad, its real easy to make before bed, just leave in the fridge and roll out with it the next day. You get a protein punch if you add canned tuna or salmon to it and drizzle a simple vinaigrette over it when its lunch time, and bring nuts to snack on! That won't give you -itis. lol
